Dreaming of Italy

Take me back to summers in Italy where the cicadas buzz and the Cypress trees grandly sway in the breeze. To long lunches in the shade and sleepy afternoons by the pool. Warm evenings strolling through the town and late ice-creams at the gelateria. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... There's nothing like February in Cornwall to get the wanderlust sparking and the mind dreaming of holidays gone-by. The sweet smells of warm suncream and cold gin & tonics. The relaxed flip flop of feet on warm paved streets and the smells of bountiful Mediterranean cooking.  The beautiful Borgo Torale  is located above Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, the 'green heart' of Italy. Once a small hamlet the Borgo is perfect for a family holiday or...

Direct from the Loom

The practical style of the hammam towel is what we fell in love with when we sourced our first bright, stripey batch from the Aegean region of Turkey. Colourful and soft, lightweight and versatile their many uses translate perfectly into our spirited outdoor lifestyle in Cornwall. Using traditional wooden looms our artisan producer Rasim works alongside a small team creating the highest quality hammam towels. Rasim sources the best Aegean cotton which is soft, strong and perfect for a quick drying towel.  The fringing is hand-knotted using century old techniques.  Dating back more than 600 years, the name hammam towel comes from the traditional use to cover the body and to dry off in the Hammam. Today they are...

Seeking Summer in Cornwall's Wild Beauty

The sunshine may be evasive at times but one thing that is plentiful in Cornwall is beautiful beaches. We love nothing more than lying on the beach in the glorious sunshine and swimming in the sea to cool off. Who needs to go abroad when there is so much beauty on our doorstep? And then, we remember that August is one of the rainiest months, and sometimes it feels like autumn has arrived early to say hello. On days like these the best thing you can do is embrace the weather and get off the beaten track for some exploring. Everything is green and beautiful and the air is warm (well, compared to the winter!)  It's the simple things in...

West Penwith

It's our home. A place of outstanding natural beauty, surfer heaven, an artist's dream, the best playground there is.  You could spend a lifetime discovering this rugged, beautiful place and still leave with more to discover. Scrambling down rocks to coves such as Porthchapel, Pedn Vounder and Green Bay which become vast swathes of white sand and turquoise seas as the tide ebbs away. Beaches that can be re-discovered every time you visit as the weather and the tide alters their innate beauty. From the raw rugged north coast stretching from St Ives to St Just with moorland and tin mines to the sub-tropical south coast with lush gardens and fishing coves such as Mousehole...there's just something about this place....

Chapel House

Whilst we love the wild wild west of westest West  Cornwall, the rugged landscapes, the wild seas and the solitary cliff top walks, here at  Ebb + Flow we do like to sometimes  pull on our posh shoes and dabble in our local town, the bustling metropolis that is Penzance. The end of the line, literally, and for some, metaphorically, Penzance has long been seen as the kind of redneck cousin to the more glamorous neighbours of Falmouth and St Ives. But it seems that the ‘times they are a changin’ down in old PZ.  The Jubilee Pool, once threatened with closure after heavy storms battered her beautiful art deco bones, has been revived and reopened, a shining beacon to...
