Chapel Street - the retail home of yours truly, Ebbflow! The most eclectic, historic street in Penzance.

Nestled in amongst 18th century buildings such as the beautiful Egyptian House, a pub with a smuggler on a roof and a ‘chocolate house’, are a plethora of fabulous independent shops, of which we are proud to be part of.

In this month’s blog we’re paying homage to some of our brilliant neighbours on our quirky, vibrant street, starting with none other than 45 Queen Street. Started 6 years ago by husband and wife team Sam and Hannah, the disused warehouse started off selling home brewed gin, and now has a full bar, food and events offering in the most energetic and effortlessly cool of spaces.

A stones throw away is Fishboy, Penzance’s go-to destination for stylish yet wearable clothing. The team started out designing and screen-printing t-shirts and sweaters, which are still housed in their stunning store, alongside some chic big name brands.

A wonderful newcomer, Faded Vintage has brought some interiors treasures to our corner of the county,  which alongside Past and Present and Daphne’s Antiques ensures this little street offers some beautiful pieces from the past.

A firm favourite for children’s toys, gifts and the most amazing selection of cards (we do love fab stationary) is Mackerel Makery, which is next door to our fave (and Penzance’s oldest) pub, The Turks Head with its own soul soothing beer garden.

If it’s coffee and brunch you’re hankering (they do do dinner and cocktails too!), Artist Residence is the place to go. Winter sees a fire lit daily, and Summer offers a colourful back yard for sipping something crisp and cooling. They also have rooms for when you need a central location to explore the rest of the town.

If all that leaves you dreaming of something more relaxing, head to Chapel House where they offer the most divine accommodation, suppers and option to have a massage with the brilliant Rachel Lorente.
